Car history:
2) Original numbers-matching 327cid and THM400 trans., power steering and power brakes. Wearing an older Monza Red repaint that still shines up nicely as the pictures will attest. Chrome is excellent! Original black vinyl interior and newer white soft top, both in good condition. Car has always been garaged since I've had it. Never been hit, no rust in frame or birdcage. Starts, runs and drives great. Steering and brakes are excellent. Stock setup except I've added an aluminum radiator, aluminum trans pan, trans cooler, and competition strut rods. Except for the original radio, everything works on the car; headlights go up and down as they should, wipers work, washers work, fan/heater, courtesy lights, fiber optics, emergency brake, glove box light--even the clock!
THE BAD news first: While the car looks amazing from 10 feet, there are spots where the paint is showing its age, notably along the passenger fender and the corners of the hood opening, and there's a small rip in the passenger seat (I've tried to show these in the pictures). Some of the weatherstrip is new, but some is old and starting to show it.
Now THE GOOD: Restored front and rear suspension & steering:
All parts blasted, cleaned, rust-proofed & painted. All new bushings, bearings, ball joints, seals and hardware, including new idler arm, new tie rods & tie-rod ends, new brake calipers & rotors. Rebuilt steering box, rebuilt power steering control valve, replaced power steering hoses, replaced power steering ram. Brand new trailing arms, hubs rebuilt w/spindle bearing endplay .0015 & .0025, new KYB GR-2 shocks, new bump stops, stainless steel alignment shims installed, new stainless emergency brake kit installed, heim-joint strut rods fitted. Front and rear frame rails cleaned, rust-proofed and painted.
Rebuilt Differential: Case and external parts cleaned, rust-proofed & painted, all new bearings, shims & seals, new STEEL posi clutches, new US Gears 3.73 ring & pinion from Toms differentials, heavy-duty Muskegon Brake cover fitted.
Many new or restored parts!
New: Radiator (USA-made aluminum), transmission oil cooler, strut rods, trailing arms, rear spring, brake calipers, brake shields (rear), brake rotors, power steering assist cylinder, universal joints, differential cover, brake hoses, shock absorbers, differential isolators (pucks) & snubber, sway bar links, fan clutch, radiator hoses, windshield washer motor, fuel pump, shock mounts, exhaust system, transmission pan, radio antenna, heater core, heater hoses.
Car also has removable aftermarket stereo/amp/speakers fitted to rear cargo area, with remote control and AUX input for iPhone/MP3 player.
Car comes with a spare in good condition on a matching rally wheel and a Battery Tender, as well as the A.I.M., GM Shop Manual, various books and a photo album of the restoration. I also have the original strut rods, radiator and trans pan in case you want those. Recent service included brake fluid and coolant flush, chassis lube and 4-wheel alignment. This is a great car with a reasonable reserve! Except for alignments, I do all my own work so I can answer any questions you might have. $19,000 (RnM) on August 8,2016.
1) Nice 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, a very hard to find and rare car with all the looks anyone would look for. The car looks very nice and runs and drives great. This car was sold to us that the miles are actual of only 82,000. I have installed a new top, new tires and new carpet. Please take the time to look at all the pictures and you be the judge. The interior is in nice condition and just looks great in the black and the new white top. The older bright red paint is nice and shines well looks great with white top, the car shows well, it is not a show quality paint. The color combo looks great and is not the original colors the car came with. This is a numbers matching 327ci motor. I would call this car driver quality, great for local cruise-in's and a local car show, and will win a few trophy's. The motor is a rebuilt 327ci, it does run and shifts good with the 3-speed trans. The rear end is stock. The car drives very nice no rattle, power steering. The headlight doors and the wiper door works, as does the fiber-optic warning lights in the console still work. It has brand new raised white letter radials tires on factory style rally wheels. Newer front and rear bumpers, all the chrome and stainless looks great. The car does have a few items no big deal but want to mention them few nicks and chips on the paint, slight exhaust leak, factory radio is in-op. 82,000 miles. Paint from the owner. September 9, 2008.
